Breakfast

Breakfast

Cam had a friend over last night so breakfast was a little larger than usual. This big stack isn’t for me or Stephanie, it’s to feed the 3 boys at the table. The amount of food they eat at 10 is staggering. I fear the day when they really get hungry.

Winter Ride

Winter Ride

January in Michigan is generally the hardest month of the year to get outside to ride so I’m stuck riding in the basement on a trainer.

I make stuff

I make stuff

As much as people think I take pictures all day – I don’t. I actually design websites. My latest project has been great to work on as long as I didn’t open the blinds to remind myself I am not in Maui.

Silvia

Silvia

This is Silvia – Miss Silvia to be precise. It’s true my espresso machine has a woman’s name, but I can’t take credit.

It’s cold in here

It’s cold in here

My office seems to be always cold so I bought myself a little space heater. It wasn’t on very long before someone else realized how nice it was.

Cow Jump

Cow Jump

“This is the Cow jumping over the moon. What the…!” – Luke

Cameron

Cameron

It came to my attention the majority of pictures I post are of Luke. The thing is he likes the camera and he’s really interested in what I’m doing. Cameron is far more cerebral about the whole thing. So I dug into the archives to find a picture of the elusive first child.

Reunion

Reunion

This is our friend, and neighbor Terri Vruggink. Last week she travelled to Haiti with a local non-profit to photograph and document the work they were doing.

Snowcross

Snowcross

I raced my first bike race of the season. A cyclo-cross race on an apple orchard (Versluis for those in West Michigan) It’s the earliest I’ve ever raced so I wasn’t quite sure what 60 minutes of snow, ice, and mud would bring. I crashed (more than once), broke my pedal, got really muddy and my bike needed to be power washed. Pretty much a perfect day.

Hold on a sec

Hold on a sec

Steph and I went out with friends sans kids. Before we left Steph said she wanted to make something for the boys. I then watched her assemble this gooey, chocolate desert. Kind of made me want to stay home.

Independent Learning

Independent Learning

There is a massive distinction between what the boys learn on their own and what they learn at school. If I asked the boys what they learned in school I’ll get some standard answer like “the usual”. But if I make a comment on the book on the table I’ll get an in-depth lecture about how the brain works including how much it weighs.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

Thing 1 and Thing 2

They aren’t but they wish they were. Twins that is.

Uh oh, AVALANCHE!!!!

#3 “This shows a snowboarder going on Mount Everest riding away from an avalanche” – Luke

Table Top Hockey

Table Top Hockey

Video games have nothing on good old fashion rod hockey. Nothing.

Babysitting

Babysitting

We asked the boys who wanted to go see our newest neighbor – Bella. Cameron’s lack of reaction is what I’d expect. He’d rather play the Wii. We thought Luke would be right with him. Nope – he was out the door and ready to play.

The Future of America

The Future of America

Cam and his friends could do pretty much anything they wanted on this cold Saturday in January.

Friday Night

Friday Night

5 boys, pizza and cream soda.

They’re here

They’re here

The lack of cable TV doesn’t mean much at our house. Who needs it when you have a big monitor, speakers and an internet connection.

Volcano Drop

Volcano Drop

#2 “This picture shows a person dropped from 300 feet in the air and going 100 mph (and faster) and he’s going into an erupting Mount St. Helens” – Luke

The Cafe Polski

The Cafe Polski

I work out of the house and I don’t get a lot of people stopping by – ok none. That is until I bought an espresso machine. Now I have lots of friends stopping by for cappuccinos. If all it took was free Wifi and espresso I would have done this years ago.

Where’d everyone go?

Where’d everyone go?

The holidays are over. The decorations have been taken down, Hugo and Lucy went home, the boys are back in the school, Steph is back to work. It’s really quiet this morning.

#1 “This pictures shows a person standing on a unicycle going 200 mph! Soon he might crash” – Luke

The Dare Devil Series

The Dare Devil Series

Luke really loves my photo-a-day project. He asked if he could start his own series and post them on the site.

No better way to start the new year with a run. Nate and I ran 10 miles at 10am to celebrate 2010.
