Bella
Seems like a nice way to end of the month of June.
Luke (#9) had his first t-ball game. Game may not be the right word for it though. More like t-ball activity. Hit, run, then stand in the field. At least the kids love it.
Steph planted her garden on May 31st. (You can see that picture here) It’s been a very warm and wet June with lots of warms nights that really help the plants grow. After 27 days the tomatoes are really looking good.
We live in a very active town, and it seems like everyone runs. Today was the annual Reeds Lake Run (5 & 10K) it brought everyone out. The course goes down our street, so we get to cheer on all of our neighbors. Go Drakes! (I’m still hurting from my crash so no running for me.)
This is my friend Laura after a recent bike race sporting one of my Podium Girl shirts. I have 12 left in the Soigneur store. {Hint]
I wasn’t going to take the picture but the boys looked at dinner and said “POTD” Dad. I agree.
If you put enough melons in the front seat of a Volkswagen, you’ll need to strap them in or the seat belt alarm will go off. Truth.
The boys took me to the beach for Father’s Day to recover from my crash. Looks like someone told the Coast Guard to check on me.
My first major crash in 10 years. It was at mile 47 of the Lumberjack 100 mountain bike race. Things were going great until I went over the bars and into the ground. Steph thought this would make a great picture of the day. I agreed and turned to look at her – mistake. Ouch. Somehow nothing broke.
Cam didn’t get to play a complete game for the last game of the season. A storm cell rolled in and the sky started looking scary so the league called the game. The boys finished the season with 10 wins and 4 losses. A great improvement from their 1-13 season last year.
Now that it’s summer, Cam walks around in flops and I’m kinda surprised he’s even wearing a shirt. You’d think he was born on the beach.
The video straight out of the 5D MII is amazing but you can ramp up the awesomeness with some post-processing with Red Giant Looks Builder. This is just a still – wait until I post the video.
So Cam ‘graduated’ from elementary school. A big milestone for sure. Like the other parents I walked up to the stage to take a picture of his class, but the best picture wasn’t of the kids. It was the paparazzi, or should I say parentrazzi.
So Luke and his friends went on a tour of the local fire station for his birthday. Initially you could tell they were all acting like this was something for ‘little’ kids to do, ’cause now that they are 8 they’re much too big for something like this. That is until they were asked if they wanted to use the fire hoses.
So Cam is officially done with elementary school. Wasn’t he just born yesterday….sigh
To play the game you really have to get the cards in the order – quickly.
At the end of “Fun Day” the fire department stops by to douse the kids with a fire hose. The kids love it but watching as a bystander it just looks like crowd control.
Completely on their own Cam and Luke have started doing sit-ups before bed. Not sure if this a good thing or not. Especially when they talk about getting a “6-pack” – oh dear what have a done.
The first weekend of June means Festival in Grand Rapids. It’s fun if you like meat on a stick, crazy people, adults with face paint, and balloon hats. We do, except maybe a little less of the crazies.
Luke loves his “squishies” – these little animal pencil toppers. Not sure why, not sure I want to know. The orange frog in the middle of the circle isn’t a “squishie,” which is why all the animals are staring at him. They aren’t sure what to do about him, at least according to Luke.
On the (un)official first day of summer, I thought I would give you something to cool off with.
